Project Description

National Institute of Standards and Technology – Central Utility Plant
Boulder, Colorado

Centerre Construction, Inc. built a new 26,000 SF central utility plant that provides filtered power, heating, and cooling for all NIST laboratory buildings. The building was a concrete foundation with a full basement, structural “waffle” slab, structural steel frame for precast architectural concrete skin and roof, and office/control room mezzanine with full amenities. The 208-acre NIST Boulder campus has a staff of about 350 scientists, engineers, technicians, and support personnel. NIST’s mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life. The NIST Boulder Laboratories conduct research in a wide range of chemical, physical, materials, and information sciences and engineering.
